HBCU By Association ("HBA," "we," "our," or "us") is a national ecosystem connecting HBCU alumni, professionals, entrepreneurs, supporters, and families through entrepreneurship, career advancement, economic development, networking, educational programming, media, events, and community engagement.

Terms & Conditions

Eligibility

HBCU By Association is intended exclusively for individuals who are eighteen (18) years of age or older.

By creating an account, registering for membership, or using the Platform, you represent and warrant that:

Individuals under 18 years of age are prohibited from creating accounts, joining memberships, participating in Industry Circles, submitting directory listings, or accessing member-only services.

HBA reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts found to be in violation of this policy.

User Accounts

Membership

HBA may offer free and paid membership options. Membership benefits may include:

Membership benefits may be modified or updated at any time. Membership fees are generally non-refundable unless otherwise stated.

User Content

Users may submit profiles, business listings, directory information, event submissions, comments, photos, videos, opportunities, and articles.

By submitting content, users grant HBA a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, publish, distribute, and promote such content in connection with HBA programs and activities. Users are solely responsible for the content they submit.

Business Listings & Opportunities

HBA may provide access to job opportunities, contract opportunities, business opportunities, grants, partnerships, and networking opportunities. HBA does not guarantee employment, funding, contracts, partnerships, or business success.

Users are responsible for conducting their own due diligence before engaging with opportunities posted on the Platform.

Events

Participation in HBA events is voluntary. By attending HBA events, participants acknowledge and agree that:

Educational Content Disclaimer

Information provided through workshops, podcasts, radio programs, videos, articles, newsletters, masterclasses, and Industry Circles is for educational and informational purposes only. Nothing on the Platform constitutes legal, financial, tax, investment, employment, or professional advice. Users should consult qualified professionals regarding their specific situations.

Intellectual Property

All HBA branding, logos, graphics, website content, publications, media, and materials are the property of HBCU By Association unless otherwise indicated. No content may be copied, reproduced, distributed, or commercially exploited without written permission.

Limitation of Liability

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, HBA shall not be liable for indirect damages, lost profits, lost opportunities, business interruption, or data loss. Users assume all responsibility associated with use of the Platform.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of Maryland. Any disputes shall be resolved in the appropriate courts located within Maryland.

Marketing Communications

By joining HBA, users consent to receive communications including newsletters, event announcements, opportunity alerts, and community updates. Users may unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time.

HBA implements reasonable security measures to protect user information. However, no online system can guarantee complete security.

Adult-Only Platform

HBA does not knowingly collect information from individuals under the age of 18. Any account identified as belonging to a minor may be removed immediately.

Prohibited Conduct

Harassment: The following activities are prohibited: harassment, bullying, threats, intimidation, and personal attacks.

Discrimination: Content promoting discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, disability, age, or other protected characteristics is prohibited.

Fraudulent Activity: Members may not misrepresent qualifications, promote scams, post deceptive opportunities, or engage in unethical business practices.

Spam: Members may not send unsolicited promotions, flood discussions, or repeatedly post identical content.

Illegal Conduct: Users may not use the Platform for any unlawful purpose.

Industry Circles

Industry Circle leaders and participants are expected to foster positive engagement, promote meaningful discussion, support professional development, and represent HBA professionally.

Enforcement

HBA reserves the right to remove content, suspend accounts, revoke memberships, and restrict participation for violations of these guidelines.
